Post Office employees in the United States are posting job openings for post offices, according to job postings posted by the U.S. Postal Service on its website.
Postal Service said the job postings, which are not open to the public, reflect the growing demand for postmasters and the number of jobs that need to be filled.
“Post offices are a vital part of our community, and the Postal Service is proud to be able to provide jobs for postal employees, while ensuring that our customers can reach their daily goals,” said USPS Deputy Commissioner Scott Withers in a statement.
“We’re pleased to have a large and growing workforce of postal employees ready to provide our customers with a high quality service,” Witherson said.
The Post Office employs approximately 11,000 people in all 50 states and in Canada.
It employs about 12,000 postal employees.
The number of post offices closing has fallen in recent years as competition for employees has increased and the economy has improved.
Post offices have been in the news recently due to the federal government’s plan to cut the postal service’s funding by nearly $1 billion.
