Posted October 04, 2019 17:17:03The Australian Post has begun discussions with Post Group about taking the post tracking business to China.
The Post Group operates three business entities in China, Post Holdings Limited, Post Post Media Holdings Limited and Post China Holdings Limited.
Post Holdings Limited is a limited liability company and is the largest holder of Post Holdings shares.
Post Media Holdings Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Post Group and is registered in the British Virgin Islands.
Post China Holdings Ltd has no formal presence in Australia and is a subsidiary of Chinese telecommunications company Huawei, which owns the Australian wireless network, Vodafone.
The Post China companies, the Post Holdings and Post Media entities, will operate under the Post Media Group’s current corporate structure.
A Post Group spokesman confirmed the talks with Post China and said the company is in discussions with China Post over the next two to three months.
He said the Post Group was interested in investing in Chinese businesses and was “open to the possibility of taking this business to another country if we are confident in the opportunity”.
“We have a strong presence in China and are committed to doing our part to help build China’s digital economy,” the spokesman said.
“Post Holdings Ltd and PostChina Holdings Ltd have strong relationships with the Chinese government, and our focus remains on helping them further their own digital growth.”
The spokesman said Post Holdings was a small business in Australia, while Post China was a larger entity with a greater global reach.
